Young Lyre are an indie rock / pop 5-piece from Auckland, New Zealand. Jordan Curtis (lead vocals), Sanjay Bangs (guitar/synth), and Kiran Rai (guitar/synth) first started playing music together at high school, and with Matt Judd (bass/synth/vocals) and Si Roots (drums), the Young Lyre lineup was completed in 2009. After releasing their debut EP “Night Swimming” in 2012, they have toured nation-wide, played summer festivals, and opened for international acts such as the Kaiser Chiefs, and Imagine Dragons.

The sound of Young Lyre is characterised by animated guitar interplay, punchy bass lines, electronic textures and energetic percussion. At the front and center sits Curtis’ distinctive vocals, delivered with finesse, passion, and an uncommon lyrical deftness. Drawing on influences such as Phoenix, Tame Impala, Passion Pit, Foals, and Two Door Cinema Club, the Young Lyre style has continued to evolve.

Off the release of their second EP, “Weekend”, in late 2015, Young Lyre are riding a renewed surge of momentum and creative energy. Their latest single “Winter” has been met with international praise. Big things are ahead for Young Lyre, as they prepare to launch a new wave of fresh tunes in 2017.
