Ted Lyddon Hatten is an artist and theologian living in Indianola, Iowa, in the heart of North America. Ted is the director of the Wesley Foundation and adjunct faculty at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He served as the Conference Artist for the United Methodists in Iowa for 22 years, and a pastor for 17. As a visual artist, Ted works in a variety of media but has a passion for encaustic, ephemeral art, and photography. He is the originator of the field of visual homiletics – something that grows out of his belief that the visual experience has a unique way of deepening our encounter with the gospel and with each other.
