Kate has a passion for working with the poorest of the poor. During 17 years with Operation Mobilisation, Kate was exposed to the atrocities that are part of daily life for millions of Indians who fall below the caste system. Known as Dalits, these people (over 250 million of them) have been exploited and oppressed for centuries, children and adults having little escape from the most degrading of tasks. Motivated by the extent of the needs and the transformational work being done, she decided to divert their time and energy to partner with the team in India.
In 2016, she established the Australian and New Zealand arm of Dalit Freedom Network, an international organisation working to restore dignity and hope.
